About Rebecca
Do you want your child to build a solid foundation for his course load in the Spring semester/quarter (especially after seeing first semester's grades)? Do you want him/her to develop better study habits, manage his/her time more efficiently and gain a love for learning?
Well, take it from a professional - getting a head start on the next semester and ahead of the competition and coursework over the break is the KEY to hitting the ground running when school picks up again in the Spring. While other students are traveling and just enjoying the break, YOUR child can start NOW and work towards his successful future by working with me over the break and more.
I am currently opening my schedule to take on students of all age ranges in all subjects, although my emphasis is English Literature, Language Arts and Writing (Creative, Persuasive, Narrative, and Personal Statements) for the summer to help them build a solid foundation in preparation for their next grade level. I offer more than just academic support - I've been a tutor and teacher for 10+ years, working for agencies ranging from FLEX College Prep to ThinkTank Learning and Sequoia Academy in Palo Alto and I've recently taken on the efforts of starting my own private company to help students in one-on-one settings and small group settings as I believe this is the ideal learning environment.
My background: I graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in English Literature and Language as well as ample coursework in Molecular Cell Biology and Integrative Biology. I also went to Brown University for a MPP and, most recently, completed the first year of law school. I am currently taking a break from law school to follow my passion to help our youth prepare for a bright future with the right attitude and strong study principles.

What sets me apart from the various agencies you have probably worked with before is my passion to really help each individual student exceed his or her goals and to develop the right tactics for each class. It's much easier said than done, so I openly welcome you to see for your own eyes. You will begin to see your student's progress in a very short duration. Brief Summary and Background:
Rebecca graduated from The University of California at Berkeley with a degree in English. She also attended Brown University to study a masters in Public Affairs and Whittier College of Law to study law. During high school and college, Rebecca tutored her peers in all subject areas, including but not limited to math, science, English language and literature and SAT/ACT test prep. Her approach to teaching students is specialized and tailored to help meet the needs of each student. What sets her apart from other tutors is her passion to really help each individual student exceed at his or her goals and to develop the right tactics for each class. Rebecca has been working with students since 2001, tutoring in math up to AP Calculus, biology up to AP level, and AP English and Literature. Additionally, Rebecca has experience teaching standardized test preparation, including ACT and SAT, College Admissions essays and personal statements and overall college preparation package. When Rebecca isn't tutoring, she can be found playing tennis, writing in her journal, or putting together a fabulous outfit.

I have worked with all types of students ranging across all age levels starting with kindergarten to grade school to middle and high schools and seniors in high school wanting to apply for college. I adapt my teaching style to each student and his or her specific needs.
I would say ask as many thoughtful questions as you can to make sure his or her teaching style and approach match up with your learning style. Every teacher teaches differently so do your research and make sure you are finding the best teacher for your own specific needs.
I started working with my student who was a high schooler on math and English language and literature and after just a few sessions my student picked up on the concepts I was teaching him and he started seeing improvements in his grades and confidence. From there on out, he barely needed my support and became fully independent, earning high grades across all classes.
