About Madeleine
I don't think that there is a right or wrong way to make art. I believe in having fun and exploring whatever you feel like in the moment! I've been lucky enough to make art my whole life. Many people do art as kids and then just drop it. As a developing artist and teacher, I try to understand what my students find beautiful or intriguing in others' work and then help them move towards making things that will bring them joy in similar ways. I'll ask you to have some images of others' work that lights you up, so we can assess what you like most about the piece and identify what you might be able to imitate in it.
I work, layer by layer, until I have something I like looking at. Starting with the intention of making a gift for someone is usually a great way to start a project. I pick colors that make me feel good and then I begin playing! Sometimes, if I have a clear desire in mind, I will plan out a piece very methodically, but it depends on the moment and my mood.

She's funny and nice! Madeleine is very encouraging throughout the process and gives solid feedback without being too judgemental. We did collage and some painting--super chill!
She's funny and really nice. She's encouraging and overall the lesson made me feel more confident that not everything needs to be perfect all the time.
Her process is organic and pretty casual, but I left lesson feeling much more at ease with trying different things and having fun with the making process. She is mostly self taught so it's different than any other art class you could take. Her paintings are really pretty!
