About Alizandro
Hi! My name is Alizandro and I am currently studying computer science at Loyola Marymount University. You may be wondering what makes me qualified to be a programming tutor. Well firstly, I spent almost 1 year working in a coding center that specializes in teaching programming to students of many ages. I coached 15+ students during my time there and developed a close relationship with each and every one of them. I also have an app on the app store and have interned at Google's CSSI program. I go started teaching right after I graduated high school when I got a job at a coding center. My job was to provide 1:1 or 2:1 tutoring sessions to kids of all ages and skill levels. It was an extremely fun job and I got to see my students grow tremendously through my time there.
I have been programming for most of my life now and have many projects under my belt. I am also currently majoring in Computer Science right now so I am in touch with programming every day.

I mainly tutor using the python programming language for all my students. For private 1:1 sessions, they last one hour, and I customize lesson plans for students to work at their weaknesses and build around their strengths. Sessions can be held once a week or multiple times a week depending on your preference and schedule.
For group classes, I hold a one-hour group session once a week where I focus on teaching the fundamentals and slowly work up to building full apps in python as a class!
I have worked with all age ranges from 7 years old, to 16 years old. Most of my students have been complete beginners so I have experience guiding them from ground zero, but others have come in with some experience so we were able to do some advanced things after a few sessions. I am willing to work with any age at any skill level :)
Some advice I would give a student looking for a programming tutor is to look for someone who can pick up on their pace. What I mean by this is if the student notices that the tutor is constantly going too fast or too slow and never changes their pace, that may mean the tutor is used to a certain type of student and it may not be the best fit.
A recent event that I am fond of is when one of my students actually created their own small project without my help for the first time. Coding up a project with no guidance from a tutor is harder than it sounds, so I am really proud that I got my student to a level where he felt comfortable enough building something and showing me the result. It was probably one of my proudest moments as a tutor just because of his age and how complex his project was.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Some questions students should ask are if they need to be prepared with any materials, and what knowledge level do they need to have before starting the sessions. This gives the students assurance and allows them to know what to expect before the tutoring starts.

If I could put more than 5 stars, I would!! Alizandro is an excellent coach and knows exactly how to break things down to a level that anyone could understand.
