I get them to talk about their background and get a big picture of their needs, in the first meeting. We set some goolas and objectives. Also, their self perception of their strengths and challenges. I then divide up the lessons into a few weeks and get them to do prework each time before we meet so that we can discuss it in our session and I can help them achieve the set goals and objectives.

What do they want accomplished through tutoring that they cannot do on their own. Time frame. If they are looking for a job, additional questions like internship or hourly job experience etc. Any leadership experience of the past in case they are looking for leadership training.
