About Cornelius

My name is Cornelius Lawhorn, I grew up in Warner Robins, GA and that is my home base for S.I.E. Training. Basketball was a part of my life since before I was born and the game has impacted my life and many others in ways that are undescribable. I played my first year of college basketball at the Junior College level for Central Maine Community College. It was an amazing experience and I was able to develop my game further and receive many All-American awards. I then proceeded to transfer to Lincoln Christian University, an NAIA powerhouse, where I finished up my college basketball career. I have since been offered to go play professional ball overseas in three countries. Unfortunately those offers are put on hold due to the pandemic we are facing so for now my goal is to take kids/teens who have a love for the game and the will to get better to the next level. My ultimate goal is to see their talents take them to the highest level of basketball and life possible for them to achieve.

One thing that I really want to emphasize is that basketball doesn't last forever so I want to make you not only the best basketball player you can be but also the best human being you can be.

I am a multi-sport college athlete (soccer and basketball) and top student that came out of Houston Country high School in Warner Robins, GA. Along with being a 1,000 point scorer, I was also a 1st Team All-Region Player, and 2nd Team All-State player during my senior year. I led my team in steals and FG% during my senior year as well. In an article by the GHSA organization, Lawhorn was one of the top 25 high school basketball players in Houston County coming out of high school. I then went on to play at both Central Maine Community College under Coach Dave Gonyea, and Lincoln Christian University under Coach Donny Aeilts. Throughout my college career, I earned a multitude of awards and recognition. I have received multiple offers to go play professional ball overseas after this pandemic subsides but for now I want to use the skills I’ve obtained to better younger players and help them reach their goals.

I like to begin with taking the players AGE, HEIGHT, WEIGHT, POSITION, and YEARS OF EXPERIENCE and using those vitals to best put together a training portfolio tailored towards them. One other thing I ask all players that I train is what part of there game do they believe needs the most work and what do they want to see most improved. This helps me see a little bit of what they think and see in regards to their skills and play style.
