About Spenser

I hold two Master Degrees in History and another in Material Culture and Public Humanities. I have been an adjunct instructor at Virginia Tech for the past two years and an additional two years in tutoring undergraduate students and high school students in curriculum, composition, and test prep.

In high school took and received no less than 4s on AP World, European, and US History along with US Government.

After graduate school began teaching survey courses

Adjunct instructor of History at Virginia Tech and two additional years of private tutoring in AP exam prep and writing/ composition review

About the class

Understanding precisely what their goals are and their level of literacy at time of lessons.

Undergraduates and high school students

Do not be afraid to fail or admit to your shortcomings, both are your greatest teacher. Identifying and facing your limits make you more confident and self aware of your strengths and what it takes to achieve goals over time!

Helping a student who throughout his life struggled greatly in writing and was able to raise his GPA by 1 point in a semester of hard work and diligence.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Carefully consider what they need to improve and THEN what they wish to improve. Prioritizing and then attacking your goals is the most effective route to success and, typically, you end up achieving both at the end of the day!
