About Darryl

I have 22 years of experience coaching Basketball. During my 32 years in the United States military I have gained knowledge and experience that has allowed me to train numerous people daily to improve their physical strength, abilities, cardio-respiratory and overall physical health. I have coached recreational teams all the way up to a level that is equivalent to a Division 1 mid major College level. I have coached in various places such as Hohnfels, Germany (High School, Men and Women Military Post Basketball league), Fort Knox, KY (Boy’s recreational, and High School), Fort Polk, La. (Post Intramural Sports), and Fort Riley, KS (Post level Basketball). The age group I typical coach range from 10 to 30 years. I currently don’t hold any industry certification. During my Junior and Senior year of High School, I was selected for the All-Defensive team. While serving in the U.S. Military I had the opportunity to coach both Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams. As the Head basketball coach in Germany, I lead the Men’s team to the Elite 8 and the Women team to the Final 4 in the Post level basketball season which consists of over 25 teams. While coaching the team in the Post Intramural Sports, my team finished as post champion which consisted of over 20 teams. As the head coach of the Fort Riley Post Basketball we finished the number one seed for the last two year.

A client can expect to work on skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, speed, agility, and a cardio workout. I will focus on the complete player. In addition to focusing on the client’s strengths I want to help develop their weak areas as well. Before the session I’d like to perform an assessment to better understand the client and their abilities. Each session will begin with stretching and cardio. Next we would do extensive drilling on fundamental skills such as passing, ball handling, shooting: footwork and reading screens and offensive shooting. We would move to defensive movements working on pivoting and lateral quickness, explosive drop steps and boxing out. We would also work on basketball specific strength and conditioning drills.
