About David
After over 20 years as a secondary English teacher, head of department and assistant head teacher, I have extensive experience of different syllabi and examination boards. I am an examiner at GCSE for English and have experience of examining at GCSE and A level for English Literature. Perfect! Excellent knowledge on English literature, good teaching skills.
Perfect! David is undeniably a leader in his field both academically and psychologically.
My Daughter went from failing and looking at repeating year 11 to middle of the class and passing with David's expertise. Within a short time David had her looking forward to and enjoying her lessons instead of procrastinating, making excuses and getting very depressed with her situation. He is beyond patient and focused (even went as far as to liaise with her teacher) he not only helped her with her studies but there is a clear improvement in her self esteem and resilience! My recommendation for David doesn't come highly enough he is one of the best decisions I have made and we will continue to use his wide range of skills to keep her on track during year 12.- What a lovely young lady! Perfect! I have tried other tutors before and David stands out as being a very experienced tutor who not only knows his subject, but knows how to teach it. My son is a Year 10 boy who is struggling with English but was reluctant to have any help. With David however, he is happy to have lessons.
We have only had 3 lessons so far but it’s obvious that my son is benefiting a huge amount.Perfect! Very engaged, passionate and extremely well understanding of course material for A Level Literature.

David has worked with my son for about 18 months leading up to his GCSEs in English Lit and English Lang.
David is patient and engaging and worked tirelessly to build up my sons knowledge in the assigned texts as well as more general essay writing techniques. David’s experience as a teacher and as an examiner was apparent in the advice and guidance that my son received.
As a parent I found David really easy to communicate with.
We were all thrilled when my son achieved 9s for both subjects, from a starting point of 5s.

What I saw over that time was a person working hard to deliver the very best for every single student that came through our classrooms, and especially so for those he taught personally. He is a kind, approachable, supportive mentor with an extensive range of tools at hand to deliver the very best in English education. His subject knowledge is broad and deep and he passes this on to his students with an excitement and confidence that is then reflected back by them. He's the kind of teacher that sets people off on a lifelong love of the subject, the sort whose name is likely the first to pop into adult minds when they're asked who their favourite teacher was.
