About Christian
I have been playing guitar for 16 years and teaching guitar for 2 years. I play in bands in the Atlanta music scene.
I have a childhood background in piano and saxophone, but guitar has been my true love.
I have a friendly and fun teaching style. My particular areas of expertise are blues and rock music and I can teach beginners, intermediate, and all but the most advanced guitarists.
I can teach beginner piano/keyboard players and teach songwriting and beginner music theory as well.
Some of my favorite artists and influences are Jerry Garcia, John Frusciante, Derek Trucks, and Jimmy Herring.

Beginning students can expect to learn from me
1) open “cowboy chord shapes”
2) 2 and 3 finger power chords
3) Major scale and minor scale (and the pentatonics for each of them)
4) proper right and left hand technique, pick control, basic muting, and rhythm keeping.
Intermediate students can expect to learn
1) Barre chords (major and minor)
2) triad chords
3) major/minor/dominant seventh chords
4) an introduction to modes (Mixolydian and Dorian)
5) legato techniques, bending techniques
6) hammer ons and pull offs
7) major/minor blues scales
8) pinch harmonics
9) rhythm riffs
Advanced students can expect to learn
1) Shell voicings
2) Complex Harmony
3) Melodic Improvisation
4) Targeting chord tones
5) In depth on all the most commonly utilized modes and exotic scales
6) basic sweep picking and tapping
All my guitar students are expected to learn tablature and read chord sheets.
Piano students must learn to read sheet music and chord sheets.
All my lessons will incorporate the desired concepts into a song assignment. Teaching theory and good technique through songs is the key to success.
