About Kannan
I am an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in mathematics, problem-solving and mentoring. Throughout my career I have worked with people at different levels, helping them understand complex subjects, develop confidence and approach problems in a clear and logical way.
I am new to formal private tutoring, so I want to be open about that, but I bring many years of professional experience, patience and a structured approach to learning. I also have first-hand experience of supporting my own daughter through the GCSE journey. She recently achieved a Grade 9 in Maths and Grade 7 in Further Maths.
I understand that every student learns differently, and I believe creating a calm and supportive environment is just as important as explaining the maths itself.
I am reliable, organised and take preparation seriously. My aim is to help students feel more confident with Maths and give parents reassurance that lessons will be focused, professional and tailored to the student’s needs.

I like to keep my lessons simple, practical and focused on what the student actually needs help with. I first try to understand what they already know and where they are getting stuck, then work through the topic step by step using clear examples and practice questions.
A typical lesson would be around 60 minutes. I would normally start with a quick review, work through the main topic together and then finish with a few questions for the student to try independently.
I have a strong technical and mathematical background from my career in engineering and engineering management. Although I am new to formal private tutoring, I have many years of experience mentoring people, explaining complex problems clearly and helping others develop confidence in solving problems.
My lessons are mainly aimed at secondary school and GCSE Maths students, particularly those who want to build confidence, strengthen their understanding or improve their exam technique. I am patient and happy to explain things in different ways until the student is comfortable with the topic.
