About Jamie
Hi and welcome!
I am a professional bass player and multi-instrumentalist living around Turnpike Lane, now with nearly 15 years of varied professional experience. I am also a singer, oud player, guitarist, band leader, song-writer, recording artist and teacher. A relaxed and empathic character, I and am keen to share my knowledge and skills with those who are in turn keen to learn!
I grew up playing Jazz, Rock and Metal. However since moving to London to start my music career 10 years ago, I am incredibly grateful to have been submerged in music and culture from Balkans, Greece, Turkey, Jewish culture, West Africa and Congo, as well as Hiphop, Jungle/DnB/Garage, Neo-soul and Modern Jazz / Improvisation. I also love to blend contrasting styles and innovate new sounds.
Some places I have performed at include : Glastonbury, Chicago Pitchfork Festival, London Jazz Festival (a few times), Southbank Centre, BBC radio and TV, Turkish TV, Iranian TV, many European tours, Village Underground, Ronnie Scotts, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg...
Some artists I have worked with include King Krule, Family Atlantica, Leon of 'The Streets', most of the current top London Jazz players, Nesta Stephen, Etuk Ubong, Cykada, Zurito, Gipsydelica and many, many more...

After learning bass guitar for a few years, I was ready for a challenge and that is why I started taking lessons with Jamie. I highly recommend Jamie as a bass guitar teacher. Not only is he a very humble and incredibly talented individual, he is a very encouraging and detail orientated teacher. We cover a lot of material each lesson, including theory and rhythm (which I had struggled with before) and I have gained a greater appreciation for music. I look forward to every lesson and I have never been more enthusiastic to play bass guitar!
