About Jason
I have been playing the guitar for about 25 years and have performed at numerous festivals around the UK and toured internationally. I hold degrees from Southampton and Sussex Universities: Music (BA HONS) and Music and Sonic Media (MA Distinction), where my focus was composition and music production. I currently co-run a Brighton-based experimental music night, record label and radio show and am set to begin a PhD in music composition later this year.

I teach guitar, piano, composition and music production. Lessons are designed around the needs and aspirations of each student. I believe that guitar study in the folk and popular traditions should be based on improvising, writing one’s own parts and playing by ear – rather than reading and memorisation. So I encourage students to begin immediately, playing basic solos and writing riffs from the first lesson! Lessons are held at my home studio in Brighton Marina or over Zoom. Lessons at the student’s house are also possible, depending on time and location.
