My Approach to Teaching Year 6 SATs Preparation I create a warm, structured environment where primary-aged children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. With Year 6 SATs in mind, I focus on building confidence as much as competence—helping pupils believe in themselves while mastering key skills in reading, writing, and maths. Each session lasts between 45 minutes to an hour and is carefully paced to keep energy high and minds engaged. I break down tricky concepts into bite-sized steps, using visual aids, games, and hands-on activities to make learning fun and memorable. I check in regularly to make sure pupils understand, and I encourage questions, curiosity, and effort over perfection. Mistakes are part of the journey, and I use them as teaching moments to build resilience and a growth mindset. I celebrate progress—big or small—and use positive reinforcement to keep motivation strong. Whether working one-on-one or with a small group, I aim to make every lesson purposeful, interactive, and enjoyable.
