About Richard
Are you a Year 12 History student who wants to apply to Russell Group universities or Oxbridge in the autumn of 2022? Or do you just need some extra help in really getting to grips with A level? I can give you that vital extra support. I want you to realise your potential but also to have fun exploring the coolest of subjects.
I can show you how to develop your essay writing and consequently your A level marks. I can also help you tackle what the top universities call ‘super-curricular exploration’. This might involve helping you develop your extended project, guidance on reading or one-to-one discussions in preparation for interviews. I can also help with personal statements and preparing for Oxbridge admissions tests.
I am a recently retired History teacher with twelve years experience teaching sixth-form students of all abilities. Prior to that I was an academic publisher for 23 years and I have good knowledge of a wide range of humanities and social science subjects. I have a first class degree in History from Cambridge, a Masters in Environmental Resources from Salford and a PGCE from MMU. As well as teaching A level, for seven years I ran the Oxbridge and Russell Group support programme at a big sixth-form college in Greater Manchester. I have helped lots of young people realise their academic potential and make a success of the university application process. I can tailor tutorial support to your exact needs.
I also have an ARSM in Flute Performance and can teach Beginner Flute (at just £17.50 for a half hour). You can quickly be playing beautiful tunes and duets with other people.
