I've worked as a software developer for over 20 years... But at the end of the day I love people, love to laugh, and love getting excited with you when you learn something new.
In my spare time, I'm an uncle to 11 nieces and nephews, and I'm a big-time NBA fan. I also consider myself quite the maker; so if you have an interest in radiocommunications, 3D modelling/printing, and embedded electronics, I'm more than happy to share.

I've found that students young and old excel at learning when they have product in mind that they want to create. I initially gauge my student's skill level and learning objectives, then work with them to create a realistic but exciting project to help them reach their learning objectives.
Lessons are focus on one technology and concept at a time for most students. Often times, bombarding a student with too many new concepts unnecessarily increases anxiety, and decreases retention: I want you to come away with practical skills that will stay with you for life.
Throughout my career, I've noticed that it is rare to find an excellent software developer who is an excellent communicator. It is even rarer to find a software developer who is willing to take the time to explain things in a simple, understandable way. I absolutely love the feeling that comes from seeing someone learn a new concept, and I pride myself on being able to explain things in way my students can understand.
As the cool-but-kinda-nerdy uncle to 11 nieces and nephews of varying ages, I enjoy teaching beginner and intermediate students. Having worked as a lead developer and mentor in many of my corporate roles, I am also happy to teach specific skills to more advanced student as well.
