About Tom
I'm a classically trained flautist, with a love for jazz and other improvisational music - you can find me jamming around Melbourne a few nights every week! I have been teaching in Adelaide and Melbourne since 2015.
My broad musical experience allows me to tailor my teaching to a wide range of needs. I can teach to a standard classical repertoire, or we can work on improvisation and extended techniques.
I have studied with amazing flute educators, who helped me understand how the flute works with (or against) our bodies. Through breathing, posture, and building a good practice routine we can train ourselves to play with solid technique in a relaxed way. Playing music is already hard, and my philosophy is that adding stress and tension will only make it harder.

Tom is an extremely kind and patient person with an incredible passion for music. With Tom your class with be full of joy, laughter and leaning as he guides you through lessons. Tom believes that everybody deserves the space and respect needed to learn a new skill.
