About Kasturi
I'm a data scientist based in Melbourne, currently working on the recommender systems team at Sportsbet. I hold a Bachelor's and Master of Data Science from the University of Melbourne, and my career has taken me through analytics consulting at Deloitte and Scalene Solutions, working on everything from pricing models to regulatory analytics for large enterprise clients.
Alongside my full-time work, I guest lecture at the University of Melbourne and speak at data science meetups, so teaching and explaining technical concepts clearly is something I genuinely enjoy, not just a side skill. I first started tutoring while at university and have always found it rewarding to help someone go from confused to confident on a topic.
I'm starting tutoring on Superprof because I want to bring that same teaching experience to people learning data science, SQL, machine learning, or working through high school and school level math. My approach to tutoring is hands on and practical.
For Data Science - I believe the best way to learn data science, SQL and machine learning is by working through real problems rather than just memorising theory, so I build lessons around examples and datasets that make the concepts click.
For high school and school-level maths - I focus on building strong fundamentals first, then working through practice problems together so the student gains genuine confidence rather than just following steps.
I hold a Bachelor's and Master of Data Science from the University of Melbourne and currently work as a data scientist, so I bring real world context to what I teach, not just textbook knowledge. I also guest lecture at the University of Melbourne and speak at data science meetups, so I'm comfortable explaining technical concepts clearly to people at different levels.
Lessons typically run for an hour and are tailored to what the student needs, whether that's exam preparation, building a portfolio project, or getting comfortable with a new tool like SQL or Python. My lessons are for high school students working on maths, university students learning data science or SQL, and anyone wanting a practical introduction to machine learning.

Kasturi has been my tutor for maths for almost two years now. She is very understanding and patient and will go over any questions you are unsure of. She always allows me to message her at any time whenever I’m stuck on a math question and she usually gets back to me straight away. She goes above and beyond to help me understand the topics and always takes her time to help me prepare for SACs and exams. Though online learning is hard to do, especially for maths, Kasturi has made an easy and comfortable learning environment through zoom for me. Anyone would be lucky to have her as a teacher.
Kasturi is an excellent teacher as she can impart knowledge to students in a very interesting and fun way about a topic. Going beyond the traditional teaching methods, she focuses more on subjective learning of the curriculum by giving real life examples and situations so that students are able to comprehend the course material very well. She has very friendly as well as motivating approach towards the teaching-learning process, among other good qualities is what makes Kasturi an excellent teacher.
Kasturi has been teaching me mathematics since year 10. She helped me with the basics and helped me to build a solid foundation in mathematics. Just two days into tutoring, I had a test at my school for which she helped me prepare for it and my grades came out better than usual. Since then, I have become more confident and I am looking forward to learning from her in year 11 as well. I would recommend Kasturi as she understands the weakness quickly and helps the student work on them.
