Hi, I’m Amanda! I’m currently a PhD candidate in electrical engineering with two math degrees and nearly five years of experience teaching college-level mathematics. I’ve worked with a wide range of students, from those who feel completely lost in math to those aiming for top grades in demanding courses.
My teaching approach focuses on building real understanding rather than memorization. I break complex concepts down into smaller, intuitive steps and connect them to ideas students already know. I also emphasize problem-solving strategies, pattern recognition, and how to approach unfamiliar problems with confidence—skills that are essential for success in both math and engineering courses.
A typical lesson is interactive and tailored to the student’s needs. We usually start by identifying trouble areas or reviewing current material, then work through examples step-by-step together. I guide you through my thinking process, have you try similar problems, and give immediate feedback so you can build confidence as you go.
