About Lee-Anne

I have worked in education for over 10 years and discovered a love for teaching reading while working at a remedial school. I realised how fulfilling it was to see a child go from struggling with the alphabet to confidently reading out sentences and expressing themselves through writing. To date I have taught dozens of children to read through one on one lessons. A lack of literacy skills will hold children back in all subjects, so I am passionate about my work, knowing that it makes a very real difference to the children that I am priveleged to work with.

About the class

I believe in instilling a love for learning by making it fun. I'm particularly skilled with younger learners (primary level) and owned a preschool and tutor centre in Johannesburg. My psychology and remedial background have equipped me to handle learners with sensitivity and compassion. I understand how literacy struggles influence many realms of development such as self esteem, so I aim to not only teach hard skills but also contribute positively to the child's general development. My lessons are relaxed and relationship based because I know firsthand that children who are happy and comfortable are ready to learn. I encourage learning through developing a growth mindset.
