About Oliver
I have been tutoring as a full-time pursuit since 2017. I love how dynamic 1-2-1 sessions are, and seeing the quick progress of students is so inspiring. I find teaching very natural and can't imagine doing anything else! I am fully DBS-checked and can provide references on request. Outside of teaching, I love to read, walk our dog and am a massive music fan.

My lessons are dynamic and varied. I enjoy warming students up with either word puzzles or an unfamiliar text (depending on age), before covering the topics that students need to focus on. I tailor lessons to the specific requirements of the student and make sure to equip them with a thorough understanding of exam mark schemes if relevant. As an avid reader and lover of art and history, I am able to bring my passion and excitement for English to bear on lessons, whilst my approach is also inspired by Oxford tutorials: rather than lecturing students, lessons are a conversation in which we work together on problems to help the student reach their potential. My lessons are typically 1 hour long and I offer English from Year 1 up to Year 13. I have over 3,000 hours of teaching experience in a 1-2-1 context, and around 1,000 of that in English (at a guess!).
