About Chloë
I am an educator, writer, artist and academic from Australia and based in Berlin, with a particular interest in supporting International Baccalaureate students in English, Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay development, Arts/Music-related subjects, academic writing, research skills, critical thinking and university preparation. I have over 20 years of teaching experience across private, primary, secondary and university settings and hold a PhD from Monash University. My background in academic research, writing, performance and communication gives me a strong foundation for helping students develop their ideas with confidence, clarity and independence.
I work with students at many different levels, from school-aged learners through to university students, adult learners and emerging professionals. My teaching experience includes one-to-one tutoring, university teaching, workshops, mentoring, written feedback, presentation support and discussion-based learning.
As a tutor, I can support students with English, essay writing, reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, study skills, assignment planning, research, presentation skills and general academic confidence. My approach is particularly suited to students who want to strengthen the way they develop, structure and communicate complex ideas.
I can help with planning essays, refining arguments, improving written expression, preparing presentations, developing research questions, responding to feedback and building confidence across written and spoken academic work.
My lessons are warm, patient and highly personalised. I adapt each session to the student’s goals, interests and learning style, whether they want to prepare for assessments, strengthen their writing, improve comprehension, develop better study habits, work on an IB essay or Extended Essay, or become more confident in their learning.

My lessons are designed to support International Baccalaureate students, as well as students seeking help with English, writing, study skills and humanities-related subjects. I can help students develop the skills they need for IB English, Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay work, Arts/Music-related subjects, academic writing, research, critical thinking and university preparation.
In lessons, we can work on essay planning, close reading, argument development, written expression, research questions, structure, grammar, comprehension, presentation skills and study strategies. For IB students, this may include developing stronger analytical writing, understanding how to respond to assessment criteria, refining Extended Essay ideas, improving TOK discussions and written work, preparing for oral presentations or learning how to communicate complex ideas with greater clarity and confidence.
Each lesson is tailored to the student’s current needs. Some students may want regular weekly support across semesters, while others may need focused help with a particular essay, assessment, presentation, research project or exam preparation. Lessons can include discussion, guided planning, close reading, writing exercises, feedback on drafts, research support, revision strategies and step-by-step help with assignments.
My approach is warm, patient and highly personalised. I aim to make lessons feel approachable and supportive, while also helping students build practical skills they can use across different subjects. Students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, develop their own ideas and become more confident expressing themselves in both written and spoken academic work.
These lessons are especially suited to students who want to strengthen their writing, improve their confidence, develop clearer arguments, build better study habits, or receive thoughtful support with IB English, TOK, the Extended Essay, Arts/Music subjects or broader academic work.

I was incredibly lucky to have Chloë as my mentor during my last year studying Composition and Music Technology at university. Chloë created a comfortable space where I could bring my half baked ideas (or, lack thereof) that, with her mentorship, grew into my best works to date; music I feel proud of! Chloë would direct my learning by finding specific musical techniques and research, breaking down these ideas to my level of understanding and finding helpful connections between these techniques and my own aspirations. Chloë would demonstrate how I could apply these methods to accomplish and/or strengthen my ideas, and would be receptive to my thoughts - allowing me to always feel heard and valued. Chloë would also guide my practice by challenging me to do my best work, including by providing feedback - which was consistently delivered in a respectful and constructive manner. As confirmed by my and my peers experiences, Chloë curated engaging lessons that benefited the individuals' learning intentions and musical goals - whilst allowing us all to feel supported along the way. This made Chloë an exceptionally adaptable teacher who was able to build rapport with students across the board - as she showed excellence in varied scenarios. Even those of us with the weirdest ideas turned in high quality work that reflected personal artistic integrity - Chloë does not shy away from the unique, she manages to embrace this and make it amazing. I know many personally (including myself) who already miss having lessons with Chloë, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her, from beginners, to emerging artists and particularly to those looking to find and refine their sound!
Thank you so much Chloë - I wouldn't have survived my final year without you.Chloë is an inspiring educator. She approaches each and every session with the patience and open-mindedness necessary to explore and make sense of seemingly abstract concepts, while maintaining a structured process to ensure these concepts reach their desired, tangible manifestation. Her guidance has helped me restore the confidence and creative fortitude in my own endeavours.
Chloë helped me complete my final composition last year. I really enjoyed the lessons we had together as she is really knowledgable, patient, and encouraging when it comes to music theory and composition! Her teaching helped me improve my confidence, refine my music, and think about music in a much deeper way.
Chloë was one of the most important teachers I had during my undergraduate studies in composition and music technology. I studied with her for a couple years, including individual mentoring that culminated in my thesis.
What always stood out was how seriously and thoughtfully she engaged with any idea I brought to her. She created an incredibly collaborative learning environment where I genuinely felt she was on the student’s side creatively and intellectually. Her knowledge of experimental and electronic music is immense, but what made her teaching so valuable was her ability to make complex ideas feel clear and workable, in other words streamlining :) . Her feedback was always insightful, I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone interested in composition, electronic music, or developing a stronger artistic practice.Chloë is a warm and encouraging teacher with extensive music experience across composition and improvisation. I learned so much from our lessons and found her teaching to be practical and engaging. Beyond that, Chloë helped me develop new confidence and skills, and I have enjoyed continuing to implement what I learned from her in my music practice. Highly recommend!
As the Principal of a senior college Chloë provided individual lessons for some of my students. She was absolutely reliable, took great pains to get to know the specific needs of each student and was genuinely interested in helping each one become confident and successful. Highly recommended!
