This is Vel. I study in the US. My major is Computer Science.

I come from a small village in Tirupattur. Shanti Bhavan Residential School changed my life. Thanks to the founder Dr. Abraham M. George and the wonderful teachers I had throughout my schooling.

In the lower grades I regretted when it was time for English classes because I had lots to study. But, now I know and understand what it takes to be a teacher here in my college. I tell you what amount of exercises are given in college and Ms. Nirmala taught me to do it at school level.

My handwriting was terrible. She would never let go that easily. Nobody could escape her. I personally feel that even in the best of schools, you wouldn't get a fantastic teacher like her. So, I am thankful and grateful for her relentless work. She had good command over the subject and the kids. She would never give up on any kid till the end. I remember one sentence of hers, " Wear on your thinking caps, " if we ever forgot any of our answers.

It is very difficult to have a dedicated and committed teacher for a long time at one place. This was because she wanted us to strive for the best. She insisted that our work gets done and no excuses could be given. Her English skills were evident in our work.

She also believed in our personality development and always wanted us to be the best. Today, I am in America. I remember her teaching me from grade four until twelve.

I am Naveen Siva. I went to a residential school. Ms. Nirmala was a tough taskmaster. My parents always believed in her. They always said that I would be brought up well because I was in the right hands. She would encourage all the children to do well and saw that nobody failed in her subject. She would not accept any kind of work. She paid attention to our handwriting. I have written lengthy essays and if our writing was bad the answers would be written as impositions which would be another way of making one study.

Nirmala was a very supportive person who motivated students to achieve their full potential. She also took time to help those lagging in class, and this reflects her idea of wanting all the students to excel.
