About Kendra
Not only do I have years of experience tutoring English and helping others feel more confident about their writing, but I also have years of experience in teaching as well. I have done karate since I was just five years old, and my first ever job was to teach kids classes, and eventually adult classes as well, at my local dojo. I’ve taught all sorts of students, from ages four to sixty, all different backgrounds and skill levels. Furthermore, within my time teaching, I have worked with many students with ADHD, autism, and other conditions that inhibit one’s ability to focus and learn; these students have specifically taught me so much themselves, and I have properly learned how to best suit their needs while teaching. I know that all of these skills will smoothly transfer over to tutoring your student, and I am happy to make any and all accommodations to best suit all types of different learning styles.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved literature and writing so dearly. In my high school career, I was one of the founding members of our Creative Writing Club, which I became the Secretary of. That being said, I was in high school not too long ago, so I have a good grasp on what teachers and test-makers are looking for at that level. However, I am more than happy to tutor middle school and elementary school level students as well. Additionally, I scored a 4 on my AP Literature exam, and would be happy to help students feel more confident towards passing the AP exam for that class. Now, I am in college working towards a degree in English. I am a member of the Paterno Fellows program, which is the honors program for liberal arts students. I have years of experience with editing essays and creative writing works. Whether it be guided proofreading, editing, practice questions, or any other concerns your student has about their English work, I am more than happy to help them achieve their goals!
