About Sophie
I am in my second year at Durham University, I have been tutoring English for almost a year and am also soon to become a swimming teacher. I have taught around 10-20 different students from KS2 up to GCSE and watched their confidence in English increase throughout.

For my first lesson, I will get to know the students ability and knowledge whilst also making sure they are happy with their target grades/ goals. I will then focus on a specific text they are studying, such as Shakespeare's Macbeth, and ask the student to select quotes (maximum of five) that portray a particular theme or topic, such as greed. These quotes will be referred back to during the second stage of the lesson, where I will ask the student to analyse these quotations and identify any contextual references. After analysing the quotations and identifying the ways in which they relate to a particular theme, I will ask the student to construct a short exam style response to the text which will be no longer than 100 words.
Finally, I will go over what went well in their response (www) and what could have been better (ebi). This will help identify what the student needs to work on in the future, and what their strengths are.
