About Agnes
I have been tutoring since April 2021 and have amassed over 2000 teaching hours, having graduated with a First Class BA in English from University College London and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Alongside teaching, I work as an academic proofreader and copy editor for the University of Hildesheim. With this experience, I am able to clearly communicate how students can strengthen and refine their essays.
I am passionate about giving my students the confidence to succeed in their studies by guiding them to find a personal connection with studying literature, and English more broadly.

My teaching method is student-focused and I will adapt my methodology according to the needs of the class. I aim to encourage enjoyment of the subject first and foremost, as I believe this is the best way of achieving desired results in exams. I will begin by assessing the student's ability by asking them to talk about the area they are struggling with, before setting a short piece of writing or analysis geared towards their problem areas. I am friendly and encouraging and I am well aware of the difficulties and frustrations encountered while studying English. I prefer to confront these if the student is struggling to take pleasure in the subject, and find a way to help them enjoy reading, writing and text analysis.

Perfect! This is a Year 3 student, and Aggie is helping him improve his overall English proficiency. Aggie’s approach involves selecting a book that is both age-appropriate and of interest to the student. Through close reading and discussion, they work on developing writing skills, text analysis, and building a bank of useful vocabulary and sentence structures. Aggie also assigns writing tasks related to the book’s content. The student enjoys this method and has made clear progress in his learning.
Perfect! My daughter Pearl has had a couple of English lessons with Aggie and she has really enjoyed them . Aggie is very friendly, teaches with clear explanations and is beginning to identify and tackle the areas that need improvement. Very happy indeed!
