About Chris
Hi, I’m Chris, a graduate in English and French from the University of St Andrews, with a passion for literature and teaching. My academic journey has equipped me with a deep understanding of English literature, which I eagerly bring to my teaching. With over 5 years of private tutoring experience, I possess the skills necessary to engage students across different levels. My approach to teaching is rooted in creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment, where each student’s unique perspective and learning style is valued and taken into account.
Committed to fostering a deep appreciation for literature, my goal is to help students not only achieve outstanding results but also to understand and appreciate the broader cultural and historical significance of literary works. As a passionate and experienced tutor of English Literature and French, my teaching approach is tailored to create an engaging and positive learning experience. I recognise that each student possesses unique strengths and learning styles, and I cater to these through diverse teaching methods.
I customise each lesson to address students’ individual needs, focusing particularly on areas that require more attention, while ensuring a smooth progression of topics.
Typically, my lessons last 60 minutes, but this can be adjusted to fit the student’s needs or budget. The pacing of each lesson is carefully adjusted to match each student’s learning pace, ensuring they fully understand the content before moving forward.
I hold a Master of Arts (Honours) from the University of St Andrews, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide effective and insightful private tutoring and exam prep.
My teaching approach fosters not only a strong understanding of the subject at hand, but a general curiosity and love of the subjects.
