About Catherine

I am a friendly, patient and approachable individual, who loves helping others, particularly with music! I am a Music Graduate from Durham University, where I was a member of various orchestras and other musical groups, and I have also previously been a member of the Hertfordshire County Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Chamber Orchestra, and my local symphony orchestra. I have performance diplomas in Violin and Singing, and I have Grade 8 Piano. I also studied music theory to a very high level at university.

About the class

Performance lessons begin with warm-ups and technical exercises and then we will work on pieces. I will give my students specific things to practise and work on between lessons. For theory lessons, I will suggest a specific textbook that we will use. This will contain exercises that I would like my students to work on between lessons. The lessons themselves will begin with correcting homework exercises, and then going over any specific issues which the student wants to cover. We will ensure that we cover all syllabus material thoroughly, and we will do mock/practice examinations.
