About Derek
I am a lecturer and textile designer, I have a broad knowledge of digital Interior print design from concept to finished product.
I have been a Lecturer for 10 years who has taught Printed Textiles taught Surface design at Buckingham-shire New University Surface design course, and have recently been working in Asia developing textile courses.
I worked in design development overseas in New York Paris and London my clients and projects include:

My teaching methods are all digital, a typical module would include trend prediction board generation to concept development.
My teaching Philosophy is fairly straight forward I develop the individual characteristics in an idea to an Interior forward finished fabrics that fit into a commercial marketplace.
1/ Introduction to Trend and trend prediction and the Interior Marketplace.
2/ Developmental ideas for Interior fabrics online workshop and tutorial. (we have access to Trend Company websites) (workshop online tutorial)
3/ Creating Boards using thematic drivers (current) (workshop project tutorial)
4/ Extraction of ideas for creating digital Interior fabrics. (online workshop tutorial )
5/ Using digital tools. ( workshop tutorial )
6/ Creating digital fabrics scaling colors colorways ( online workshop )
7/ Adaptation and mapping of Interior fabrics into a 3D environment. (workshop tutorial)
8/ Creating an online portfolio (tutorial review and workshop)
I am online most of the time and can be contacted almost all the time if you need technical help with a project or if yo are struggling with a concept that needs to be finished.
