About Graham
I'm retired. This means that I'm contactable most of the day. I have a lifetime of experience in making students and others feel comfortable and relaxed. Only when that happens can they start to learn. When I was a school student Maths did not come easily to me and it was only later when I needed maths skills to work as an Engineer that I basically taught myself maths. I then went on to become quite good at it. This means that I can remember what it is like to struggle to understand some of the concepts. I thnk that makes me more able to help others for whom Maths doesn't come easily.

Maths is usually pretty straightforward. However, teachers can make it more complicated by using unfamiliar words and terms. I think because it comes so easily to THEM, the assume it should come easily to everyone. I concentrate on developing basic mathematical skills in the student. Only when we achieve THAT can we go on to actual exam-type problems. By A-level / Higher level it can be too late. If I can catch someone by Nat5 level I can make a real difference.
