About Amara
As an English and reading tutor for students from elementary through high school, I adapt my teaching approach to fit each student’s age, learning style, and goals. With younger learners especially, I focus on keeping lessons flexible, engaging, and fun. I use a mix of read-alouds, writing prompts, vocabulary games, discussion-based analysis, and real-world connections to help students develop strong reading comprehension and writing skills. A typical session might include a quick review, a short mini-lesson, guided reading or writing, and then student-led practice or creative activities. What sets me apart is my academic background as a Stanford student and my extensive experience working with kids across all age groups. My goal is to help students build confidence as readers and writers—and to spark a lifelong love of language along the way.

Hello! I’m a Biology major at Stanford University, originally from Hawai‘i, and currently on the pre-med track. While I’m passionate about neuroscience research, I also have a deep love for English and writing—whether it’s crafting essays or exploring great literature.
