I believe that people learn and understand better when physically doing something.
For example when learning theory rather make notes than reading , in Computers you learn better and quicker by doing exercises over and over again.
How i would run my lessons ? I would start by reading and Chapter , then asking the student what they understood from that chapter , the stuff they didn't understand we would talk about and work more on.
After going through the chapter , i would let them do an exercise of the piece of work they just learnt about , and then go through the exercise with them to see where they went wrong and why it was wrong.
