About Harrison
Hello!! My name is Harrison and I am a performer, composer, and musician living in New York City. I recently received my M.A. in Creative Media & Technology as part of BerkleeNYC's Writing & Design for Musical Theater Program after having previously graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University's School of Communication, where I studied musical theater writing & performance. Having composed and produced scores for over ten full-length plays and musicals, I am an experienced multi-instrumentalist with a layered understanding of theory and songwriting. I have also worked for many years in the New York, Chicago, and Atlanta areas as a professional actor, writer, and stage director, with extensive experience coaching auditions and self-tapes. Over the years, I’ve gained first-hand experience teaching students of various ages, backgrounds, cultures, skill levels both in-person and virtually, with a specific dedication to at-risk and neurodivergent students, utilizing my directorial background to offer thoughtful, empathetic feedback. I would be thrilled to share my knowledge with you and help you become a better musician! :)

I am a New York-based theatre artist and musician with a passion for uplifting the next generation of creators! I offer classes in a number of topics, including piano, voice, guitar, playwriting, songwriting, music theory, and music production (Logic Pro). My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs and interests, and range across ages and skill levels. We will dive into technique as well as theory, improvisation, and other skills to help you play the songs you care most about!
My passion for education stems from a keen understanding that my own artistic voice is limited, and that to give others the tools they need to share their talents with the world is perhaps the greatest gift I can give. It is my belief that the best teachers bring a sense of play to the work and meet students where they're at through active listening and patience. For me, working as an arts educator continues to serve as a spiritual backbone that fuels my creativity, gives me a sense of purpose, and allows me to continue engaging in a life of learning!
