About Edoardo
Hi! I am Edo, a multi-disciplinary composer and sound artist. The centre of my creativity is the exploration of new sonic possibilities, to expand the perception of ‘beauty’ and ‘harmony’ throughout the concepts of imperfection and roughness. As well as researching a new balance in between technology, science and nature, in relation to how our creative instincts are exploited and the musical material crafted. I oscillate in between a more traditional orchestral composition to purely electronic based music productions; frequently finding my favourite playground in a mixture of the two worlds. I like to create and research towards a hybrid approach, which often results in a very unique and unexpected sound quality. Starting my musical adventure as a pianist, I moved to composition quite precociously, when I was only 13 years old. I began my studies at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, with Maestro Andrea Portera, then accomplishing a bachelor at the Royal College of Music of London, concluding my academic journey with a Master Degree in film music at the National Film and Television School. Besides I attended and obtained different short diplomas in important institutions such as: Accademia Chigiana (Siena), Chetham School of Music (Manchester), Point Blank Music School (London) and others, studying different disciplines, like: film music, jazz improvisation, sound engineering, sound design, opera composition and more. I have been so lucky to confront myself and to study with some of the main personalities of contemporary music, such as: Peter Maxwell Davies, Dario Marianelli, Mark-Anthony Turnage, Pete Anthony, Luis Bacalov, Ennio Morricone, Marco Beltrami, Dai Fujikura, Michael Oliva, Giorgio Battistelli, Nicola Piovani, Richard Boal, Girolamo Deraco, John McLeod, Stuart Earl, John Keane, Steve Reich and many others. I am flattered to count already around 35 world premieres, also thanks to prestigious collaborations, like: National Portrait Gallery of London, the Britten Theatre (London), Puccini Chamber Opera Festival, Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, AIR Studios, Teatro Verdi, ORT and more...

I like to teach through experience. I believe that mixing theory with a strong practical sense of things is the most solid way to learn composition. I am enthusiastic and open. I like to live things in a light way, but seriously and with respect at the same time. I don’t like the idea of imposing a method, as I strongly believe that each student needs to find their own path and learning process. My job is to give value to each individual talent and to balance strengths and weaknesses in the best way to give birth to their own voices.
