About Isabelle
As a translator and musician, I've long been fascinated by the connection between language and music, which naturally led me to teach pronunciation.
My background in both music and languages (I'm fluent in English, German, and Italian) equips me with a finely-tuned ear. This skill helps me pinpoint and correct specific areas in your pronunciation.
The most gratifying aspect for me is witnessing my students regain confidence in their ability to express themselves clearly and effortlessly in French.
My journey into opera singing began 20 years ago, offering me profound insights into vowel placement and the mechanics of vocal production.
Additionally, performing in a band, especially while preparing songs in English and French, has deepened my understanding of the phonetic intricacies of these languages.
This experience has also heightened my awareness of the crucial role the voice plays in intonation and prosody.
Feeling the musicality of a new language can be challenging, and my goal is to help you better connect with your French audience in a way that feels pleasant and comfortable for you!

Pronunciation challenges often arise because certain French rhythms and sounds don't exist in your native language. Remember, we can only pronounce correctly what we hear correctly.
My teaching approach focuses on:
- Training your ear to recognize and distinguish new sounds.
- Strengthening your muscles to articulate French sounds accurately.
- Enhancing your ability to imitate and reproduce French rhythms.
- Motivating you to practice regularly with effective and diverse exercises!
Think of learning pronunciation as learning an instrument:
You might know all the theory, but without regular practice through scales and practical exercises, you won't see any progress!
My courses are designed for learners with a minimum of A2+/B1 level in French.
- I frequently work with interpreters, professionals, diplomats, and individuals looking to enhance their clarity, fluency, and overall intelligibility in French. Some students aim to neutralize their accents.
- Please note: My specialty is in phonetic correction and accent reduction, not general French language education (FLE). However, pronunciation exercises do provide opportunities to delve into grammar rules and expand your vocabulary.
- Classes are conducted via video (45 or 60 minutes long). After each session, you'll receive a video recording and the materials used (audio/slides) for independent practice.
Depending on your goals and schedule, some personal work may be assigned to expedite your progress in our next session.
