About Samuel
I have been teaching Clarinet for over 10 years, having taught in all kinds of settings: college level, public and private high schools, music academies, wind bands and private lessons.
I have had contact with students of all ages, thus I am prepared to respond to their specificities, being able to prepare them to enroll in all levels of education.
My method is flexible, considering that each context, each student is different, with music having a unique and special role in the student's life. That being said, it is important for me to know the goals of each student, so that together we can work, in a completely personalized way, to achieve them. Music and what we look for in it is always something dynamic, therefore the proposed goals and the methods to achieve them are continually being adapted and improved, in order to satisfy the student's expectations.

I have been a clarinet player for 24 years, holder of a Masters Degree in Performance/Music Education. I've obtained a Masters Degree in Instrumental Performance and an Advanced Certificate in Music Education at the New York University Steinhardt School, as well as a Clarinet Performance Undergraduate Degree at ESMAE - Oporto School of Music and Performing Arts.
I split my musical activity between performance (collaboration with symphonic orchestras, chamber music groups and solo concerts) and a very active teaching schedule (I teach Clarinet to children and teenagers, individually or in groups, in various schools in the Portuguese districts of Aveiro and Lisbon).
The 1st lesson is free, being a great opportunity for the student to get to know my teaching method and to see right away if I am the right person for his/her needs; it will also be important for me in order to know the student's characteristics, as well as his/her goals and needs.
My methodology is based on the development of good technical foundations that support and enable the discovery and development of a musical interpretation. I believe in an attitude of positive reinforcement from the teacher towards the student, encouraging his/her creativity, curiosity and willingness to explore the instrument.
