About Lynn
I was a middle school band director for 5 years, and I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Instrumental Music and a K-12 licensure. At the end of the day music is about having fun, bringing people together, caring for and expressing ourselves. My lessons always center around that principle and teaching students how to use that framework later in life even if they are not performing music anymore.

Clarinet beginners through 12th grade. I start by getting to know the student first; where they are in performance level, what their goals in performance are, if they are in a band class, which music pieces are being practiced, and which would like to be learned in the future. Then I create an individualized lesson plan focused on building practice technique, technical skills, form, sound production, tone, confidence, a sense of pride, and accomplishment for the student, which we move through at a pace set by the ability and ambition of the student. I know, from previously being a middle school band director, that often specific instruction to individual instruments and students is missed. Leaving students confused, trying to fill in the blanks, sometimes feeling left behind, and finding solutions from peers that are not always reliable in a performance setting. There is a lot to learn about the clarinet; how it works, what things are needed to make it work right for me, and I can best work with it. My goal as a lesson teacher is to help students find more fun in their practice rather than frustration.
