• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring? 


  I commenced my journey as an ACCA tutor immediately after achieving my qualification while working at EY. During that time, I was teaching my colleagues and clients, sharing knowledge and insights.
  Recently I have made the decision to transition to a home-based teaching model, which allows me to allocate more time and energy to teaching.
  This new chapter not only enhances my ability to connect with students but also fills me with joy, as I find immense fulfillment in guiding others on their educational journeys.
  Through this approach, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that inspires students and evokes positive emotions, making the learning process both enjoyable and impactful.
  I am excited about the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion with you!

• 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).



  Through my teaching experience, I have come to understand that diverse examinations need distinct strategies for effective preparation.
  
  For instance, achieving success in the ACCA Advanced Performance Management (APM) examination primarily means attempting the questions. By reviewing their responses and providing constructive feedback, I equip students with the insights needed to identify their errors and enhance their performance.
  
  In contrast, the ACCA Advanced Financial Management (AFM) examination requires a strong emphasis on logical reasoning and the use of real-world analogies. This approach, combined with regular practice, facilitates the reinforcement of theoretical knowledge essential for mastery of the subject matter.
  
  Similarly, the ACCA Strategic Business Reporting (SBR) examination presents its own set of challenges. It is imperative to instruct students on effective strategies for approaching complex questions, even in situations where they may not immediately grasp the final answer. Additionally, addressing and rectifying any misconceptions is critical to their understanding and overall success in the examination.

• 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?


  
I've had many role models growing up but one of my most inspiring would be like ACCA APM Tutor who showed me how fascinating the subject is and used real-life examples for us to understand advanced theories and economic models. I also found his nature and way of working with students extremely inspiring and he certainly encouraged me to teach and share my knowledge.

• 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?



  To be a good tutor, several key qualities are essential:
  Expert Knowledge: A deep understanding of the subject matter is crucial to provide accurate guidance and explanations.
  Communication Skills: The ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and relatable manner is vital for effective teaching.
  Empathy: Understanding students' perspectives and feelings can foster a supportive learning environment and build trust.
  Adaptability: A successful tutor can tailor their teaching methods to suit different learning styles and needs, ensuring that each student receives the attention they require.
  Encouraging Attitude: Providing positive reinforcement and constructive feedback helps build students’ confidence and encourages them to strive for improvement.

• 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.



  This reminds me of my first audit manager in BIG 4 company who always told that the International Financial Reporting Standards allow to support any accounting opinion you have. The first step is to develop the alternative and then you will be able to find the supportive arguments in IFRS.
  
  This approach can easily be used during the qualifications exams and would easily help me to get maximum marks for arguments for and against possible alternatives if you are not sure about the correct answer.

• 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?


  It can be particularly challenging for students who select a subject that does not align with their interests. It is generally easy to recognize when students feel pressured to pursue a degree that does not correspond to their desires.
  
  In these situations, I prioritize building a strong rapport with these students, encouraging them to explore opportunities that increase their passion and curiosity.
  Through this supportive approach, I have observed that when students engage in subjects they truly enjoy, not only do they tend to perform better in assessments, but they also experience a profound sense of achievement and fulfillment in their educational pursuits. That is how I can help them unlock their full potential.

• 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  I really love to explain the most complicated accounting issues. My favourite ones are consolidation, pensions, cash flow statements and deferred taxes.
  
  I get additional inspiration when I see my students understand those, feel the logic and can easily attempt both exam questions and real life examples.



• 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

  I provide an extremely in-depth level of teaching which allows students to gain an optimal amount from a short space of time.
  
  I am an enthusiastic tutor adapting teaching styles towards the personality of my students, this helps students to achieve their potential and reach a higher level of knowledge and success.
  The approach to teaching I apply involves being friendly, and approachable and providing positive reinforcement.
