About Ranura
I recently graduated from Central St Martins MA Fashion winning the LVMH (Louis Vuitton) Grand Prix Scholarship. My menswear collection focused on textile printing and weaving. (Distinction)
I also completed my BA in Fashion at CSM as the winner of The Samsung Fashion Design Fund Award, here my specialism was knitwear for fashion. (1st Class Hons)
After graduation I worked at Burberry within the textiles and print department working in a fast paced environment, assisting to design textiles and print for MW / WW runway shows, pre-collections and special projects. Other professional experiences include Pringle of Scotland, Tods and Daniel W Fletcher.
I have also worked as an associate lecturer for 2 years at UAL on foundation courses and short courses specialising in Textiles for Fashion.
Artistic residences include The Mahler and Lewitt Studios in Italy and most recently I have been working with handloom weavers in Sri Lanka, consulting for a social enterprise which is transforming craft across the country.

Whether you are applying for foundation entry or degree entry, I have an individual approach to each student helping to identify who you are as a designer and what your specialism is, WW/ MM/ Fashion Knitwear/ Fashion Print.
We will work through set briefs that students might already have or we will set our own, emphasis on research, design development and sampling resulting creating a high quality portfolio.
My lessons aren't heavily focused on learning garment making skills, but there is a stronger focus on research and translating your ideas into fashion thinking, tutorials will guide students on how to self critique, edit and articulate their ideas into a portfolio of work. I would focus on making your work as personal as possible, I want to see who you are as a designer, your creative expression - making your work totally unique to you.
