About Kate
Hi! My name is Kate, I have about 3 years of experience in tutoring students in classroom environments (gr 8-12) and afterschool programs (gr 6-7) ; I’ve also been doing private tutoring for quite a while (gr 11-12)!
-I’m energetic, flexible and patient (trust me you need a lot of that for the kids I tutor), I also keep parents updated (weekly schedule, progress etc.) if that’s a need.
-I know your struggles, but math can be easy: I wasn’t a “math person” either, it took me so much effort and practice to get to where I’m at now. Math requires dedication and hard work, I hope I’ll make this journey easier for you by saving you trouble that I’ve gone through. I also take the time to break down concepts into small pieces and make math relevant and fun to you!
-Not just a tutor: I value connections to my students. Like, a lot. They often come to me for other advice- volunteering, uni applications, science programs.. I see myself more as a mentor, the kind that says hi to you outside of class.

I teach grade 6-12 Math, AP/ grade 12 Statistics and grade 11-12 Physics.
My lessons (Zoom/ Google Meet) usually consist of three parts:
1. Review practice questions on old topics &/or answer questions from school assigned homework
2. Preview lesson on new material
3. Practice questions on new and old topics
-I mix and match problems on different topics for your practice and tailor them to your weaker areas (ex. Algebra), students have seen huge improvements and performed a lot better compared to their peers with this method.
-I record my lessons and upload notes for you to rewatch/study
-No time wasted: My lessons are preplanned and tailored to YOU, I promise every second of you doing practice/ in a lesson is time well spent- it can be tough to get through but it means you’re improving very quickly!
