About Jago
I have recently completed undergraduate (BA) and masters (MMath) degrees in Mathematics at Jesus College, Cambridge, with first class honours and distinction respectively. I now continue to solve problems for a living in my job as a software developer.
Being able to understand and appreciate the beauty of mathematics was what made it my favourite subject all throughout school, and it is that level of understanding and appreciation that I hope to share with all of my students.
As well as having sat the A-level further maths, MAT and STEP exams myself (obtaining grades of A*, 83% and SS respectively), I have multiple years tutoring experience in GCSE / A-level maths, further maths, and physics. Whether you would like a one-off refresher on a couple of key topics, or continuous lessons throughout the academic year, feel free to get in touch and I'd be happy to help!
On a logistical note, it is worth noting that my experience is primarily in the Edexcel 9FM0 specification for further maths. From this specification, I am comfortable teaching all core pure content (CP1 and CP2), as well as optional modules FP1, FP2, FM1, and FS1. I have some familiarity with FM2 and D1, and have skimmed through FS2 and D2, but I would recommend looking further afield if you are looking to do full lessons on those specific modules.
If you study with an exam board other than Edexcel, this is not the end of the world as the core content is very similar across specs, but from experience I am not as familiar with the intricacies of these other exam boards, and won't have done as many past paper questions, so I might be slightly less useful than a tutor who specifically caters to your exam board.

We can discuss what you would like to get out of these lessons, and as such there are many different possible approaches we could take.
You could suggest a topic you are struggling with, or perhaps haven't yet covered in class, and I could plan a lesson covering that topic, or find some exam questions at varying levels of difficulty on that topic to go through together.
Equally, you might have some specific questions you would like to go over, and I would happily go through those with you, with an emphasis on general problem-solving tips and how you could solve a similar problem yourself next time.
You might even be someone who wants to apply to do mathematics at university at some point in the near future, and wants practice at interview-style problems, or entrance exams, or just a more general chat about what the application process / undergraduate study is like.
For me, the most important thing is for you to be engaged and following along; I would never want my lessons to feel like a lecture or a chore, I want them to be a two-way discussion! Asking / answering questions is how you will get a deep understanding of mathematics.
