About Nick
Hi! I'm Nick, an Engineering graduate from Queens' College, Cambridge. I am a part time private tutor, with particular experience in getting students offers for Engineering at Oxbridge.
My teaching style focuses on showing students new ways to solve difficult problems, and new techniques to approach unfamiliar questions. This approach is informed by my considerable experience in problem-solving techniques, in both my formal education and my personal endeavours, including numerous Maths and Science competitions throughout my education.
I am a friendly and enthusiastic tutor, with a genuine passion for all things Maths and Science. In both my formal education and my free time, I have developed a deep understanding of a wide range of topics in Maths, Science, and Engineering. This allows me to put the course material in context for my students, giving them a more comprehensive understanding.
Ultimately, every student is different, and I tailor my lessons to each student's academic needs and learning style.
More on my background: I graduated in Engineering from Queens' College, Cambridge in 2023 with a 2.1, and from an IB school in Hong Kong in 2019 with a 43/45. I received an offer from all 5 UCAS courses I applied for: Cambridge Engineering, and both Mechanical and Chemical Engineering at both UCL and Imperial. Apart from Maths, I enjoy hiking, cooking, and learning languages.

My main focus is Oxbridge Engineering applications: personal statements, ENGAA prep, and interview prep. This could include:
- helping craft a personal statement
- learning problem-solving techniques for the ENGAA/interview
- revisiting difficult content from Maths/Physics class
- doing mock interviews
- anything else helpful!
I have particular experience in preparing students for the ENGAA/interview, with a focus on various problem-solving techniques, and ENGAA-specific tips and tricks. However, my lessons are tailored to each student's needs, and I can provide valuable support at every step of the application process. I also offer general Maths/Physics A-level lessons.
