I'm a Computer Engineering student at BYU, which means algebra and trig aren't just something I learned once and forgot — I use them all the time in my own coursework. That keeps the concepts fresh and lets me explain why something like a logarithm or a trig identity actually matters, instead of just how to solve it. I also focus on the specific step you're stuck on rather than re-explaining a whole topic from scratch, so sessions stay efficient and actually target what's tripping you up. I help students stop guessing and start actually understanding math — whether that means catching up, getting ahead, or just finally getting why a method works.
How I Teach
I don't just show the steps — I ask questions that get you thinking through the logic yourself. That way you're not just copying a process, you're building the kind of understanding that sticks (and shows up on tests).
A Typical Session
We start by talking through what you've covered in class and where things got confusing. From there, I explain the concept behind the problem — not just the steps — and we work through an example together, with you doing most of the solving while I catch mistakes as they happen. Once it starts clicking, you'll practice a few on your own while I'm still there to help, and we'll wrap up with a quick recap and a couple problems to try before next time.
