About Ilana
Hi, I’m Ilana, a first-year university student studying Maths and Philosophy. I achieved eight grade 9s at GCSE and A*AAA at A level (with an A* in Maths and an A in Further Maths). I’m passionate about helping students reach their full potential by building confidence, breaking down tricky concepts, and making learning feel manageable and rewarding. Tutoring Experience I have experience tutoring both Maths and English Literature at GCSE level. One of my Maths students moved from a grade 6 to an 8 in her final exams and went on to study Maths at A level. I also supported a student in English Literature who improved from a 7 to a 9 after we focused on essay writing techniques. These successes have shown me how much of a difference the right guidance and encouragement can make.

My Teaching Style In lessons, I always start by asking students what they would like to focus on so sessions are tailored to their needs. I then explain topics step by step and provide questions that gradually increase in difficulty to ensure full understanding. I strongly encourage questions throughout and make sure no gaps are left at the end of the lesson. If a student wants to push ahead, I enjoy challenging them with more advanced material so they can continue to grow. Why I Tutor Having been through exams recently myself, I understand how stressful they can be. That’s what drives me to support others—not only by teaching content, but also by sharing strategies, boosting confidence, and showing that with the right approach, even difficult topics can be mastered.
