About Ricky

As a PhD graduate in Bioengineering and a research scientist at an Ivy League institution, I bring both academic expertise and real-world experience to my tutoring sessions. With years of tutoring high school and college students in science and mathematics, I know how to simplify complex concepts, helping students build a solid foundation. My professional background ensures that lessons are not only accurate but also grounded in real applications, so students can trust that they are learning the "why" behind each concept.

I take pride in delivering personalized, high-quality instruction, tailored to each student's needs. From the moment we begin, you can expect professionalism and clear communication, as well as a relaxed, fun and supportive learning environment designed to help you succeed.

About the class

My tutoring sessions focus on helping students build a deep, intuitive understanding of math and science concepts. I begin by reviewing their homework, guiding them through problem-solving step-by-step using an electronic writing pad on a shared screen (similar to Khan Academy-style videos). Together, we work through similar problems, reinforcing the material with a focus on first principles. I ask targeted questions to help students develop insights and grasp key concepts. With my background in scientific research and a PhD, I provide real-world context to motivate why methods are used, making the material more relevant and engaging.

Lessons are tailored to high school and college students, covering a range of math and science courses, from foundational topics (such as Algebra and Geometry) to more advanced subjects (Calculus, Differential Equations, Fluid Mechanics, etc.).
