About Amaya
With a Masters in Spanish History and a PhD in Spanish pedagogy from NYU, I have been teaching Spanish language, literature, and culture for the past 10 years predominantly at the university and college level. At all levels, I incorporate creativity and global literacy and awareness into my teaching and especially enjoy bringing different literatures and cultures together with an interdisciplinary focus.

My classes are predominantly discussion- and inquiry-based, with a student-centered, immersive focus rather than a teacher-centered one. I teach the language in conjunction with its socio-historical context since language was not created in a vacuum and cannot be properly understood without its sociocultural background.
