I base my teaching on the ideology of having a beautiful blend of good ear training, harmonic knowledge (music theory), instrumental technique, a LOT of playing and some philosophy of music. I try encourage all my students to have their own unique style of playing as well as try to expose them to music of all styles from jazz to metal to EDM etc. so they can appreciate all the different ways to express yourself through music. Usually during class I tend to ask the student what they would want to work on, next I come up with some practice material for the student and have them play it and practice it so they can get a hang of it and once the student is ready I have them play either with me or a backing track or a loop so they can learn how to use these lessons in a real world scenario.

Wanna play like a pro? I am a 2018 graduate from Berklee College of Music currently residing in Kolkata. I am easy going and patient with students and teach according to their taste in music.
He has a very effective methodology of teaching. He simplifies the toughest topics and explains it with so much dedication. He's never tired for a question or a doubt and he makes sure u understand it from every angle.
He is an amazing guitarist and an even better teacher, I was lucky to be tutored by him at GMI, and I've never learnt so much in such a short span of time.
Subharaj taught me at GMI for three months and it was honestly my best experience with a teacher. I was a person who was intimidated by music theory and he made it so much fun that I actually started looking forward to his classes. He's also a fantastic guitarist with command over the instrument and his knowledge of music is impeccable!
Subharaj has been my PI teacher for 3 months and I've learnt soo much advance guitar techniques and also got so many useful playing tips and tricks...
I would definitely recommend him to all intermediate and advanced players who is thinking of taking their playing to the next level. Cheers!
Raj is an impeccable player, teacher, and all around human being. Very thoughtful and attentive to students and their respective needs. Easy 5 stars!
This guy has a brilliant senses of theories / Tone and has some really cool chops and a Brilliant Human being ...
Subharaj is the best and most musical guitarist I’ve encountered at Berklee with a wealth of knowledge. A great friend, whose easy to talk to and great at sharing his knowledge and explaining his ideas, Raj will be an amazing teacher for any student.
He stands out to me because of his organic feel in his playing. I learned a lot from his occasional Facebook videos and some from his YouTube channel. People who are struggling to put their playing with feel and want to attain ease must learn as much as possible from him..
Subharaj is one of the best guitar players i have known personally. I have taken lessons from him, and I can vouch that he is a very good teacher! The student would take away lots of melodic ideas, compositional tools and most importantly, would develop his/her ear.
Subharaj is one of the most passionate, knowledgeable, and skilled musicians I have ever come across. His willingnesss to share his love for music and his instrument is his greatest asset and serves him well as a teacher. His technical knowledge and strong improvisation skills craft his very unique signature sound, and his pure, unbridled passion for music is unparalleled by anyone else I have ever seen, and he makes difficult concepts easy to understand. I also happen to know him personally, and he is a warm, friendly, funny man who cares about the success of others. I highly recommend Subharaj to any prospective students looking to learn/ learn more about guitar!
