Hi, I’m Thomas, a certified math teacher with a degree in Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley, a master’s degree in Education, and 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience.
My background includes classroom teaching, individual tutoring, and competition coaching, with experience at Art of Problem Solving (AoPS), C2 Education, and ACE. I have supported students at many stages, from rebuilding essential math skills to tackling advanced coursework and preparing for competitive exams.
My specialties include AP Calculus AB/BC, SAT/ACT Math, and AMC 8/10/12 and AIME preparation. My students’ achievements include 5s on AP Calculus exams and perfect 800s on SAT Math. I also value the everyday progress behind those accomplishments: understanding a difficult concept, making fewer careless mistakes, and approaching unfamiliar problems with confidence.

I hold a degree in Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree in Education. As a certified math teacher with 15 years of teaching experience, I combine subject expertise with teaching methods that help students understand challenging concepts and become independent problem solvers.
I specialize in AP Calculus AB/BC, SAT/ACT Math, and AMC 8/10/12 and AIME preparation. I also teach algebra, geometry, precalculus, college calculus, and AoPS coursework.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing recent work and identifying gaps or recurring mistakes. We then break down challenging concepts, work through carefully selected examples, and build toward independent practice. Students learn to explain their reasoning, recognize patterns, compare solution methods, and check their answers. Each session ends with clear next steps and targeted practice.
For SAT/ACT preparation, I emphasize accuracy, pacing, and choosing efficient approaches. SAT students also learn when to use Desmos and how to solve confidently by hand. For competition math, we strengthen foundations in algebra, geometry, number theory, and counting and probability before progressing to more challenging problems.
My students’ achievements include 5s on AP Calculus exams and SAT Math scores of 760–800. Whether a student needs patient support or advanced challenges, I provide clear explanations, constructive feedback, and a structured path toward greater confidence and stronger mathematical thinking.
