My method is quite simple I don't force them to do some work instead I use positive reinforcement on them which makes the kid and me both happy and the task is done on time. You don't have to act like an adult everytime sometime I guess the adult should become the kid while teaching most of the times I ask the kid to explain me the topic which clearifies till what extent he/she understood and makes learning fun.
