• 1) Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

  I must have been about 7 years old, I remember my parents buying a Packard Bell PC and it was the greatest thing i had ever seen, i think it was in 1994 - i remember my first PC game i ever played. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I managed to find it on PC a few years ago and I have stored it away.
  I also remember running out of space on the harddrive so I figured out how to free up space, the problem was that I deleted the entire C drive in the process :D best way to learn i guess
  Since then i have been always into computers either playing games or opening the entire computer up and figuring out how it works

• 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

  Tricky one to answer as there are always new and exciting things coming up. I remember when Virtual Reality was something out of the movies - I remember around 20 years ago seeing it in the arcades and now it's available to buy in the comfort of your own home. I watched as Augmented Reality started making headlines and now I read about Elon Musk and his research in Neuralink, so many new and exciting things are happening at the same time.
  
  With regards to the field that i am in, I believe Virtual Reality is going to be the bridge to help the architect / designer showcase their design to the customer. Especially when the virtual reality is interactive and allows the user to manipulate his or her surroundings that's when the fun begins.

• 3) Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

  I am proficient in Autodesk 3Ds Max, V-Ray, Corona rendering engines, Photoshop and Unreal Engine. My interest is stemmed from playing Video Games and seeing the beauty in how they created it all. Especially with today's sandbox games and the open world they are able to create - the process just fascinates me and it's become a passion of mine. I love building scenes and environments in 3D, I love creating open worlds in Unreal Engine and going crazy with it as there is no limit
  The importance in the computer world is that we are able to visualize the final step without taking the first step. We can showcase any design to the client before any commitments are made which leaves no room for errors.

• 4) Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

  Bill Gates is a great humanitarian, his vision in helping people is a great inspiration.
  Steve Jobs was a great character - after reading his book I had a completely different outlook on him and how he operated. As a business man his thought process was incredible
  Mark Zuckerberg honestly doesn't inspire me in the least.
  Elon Musk is someone that is just so far ahead of his time - his vision of the future is def something to keep u with
  The people that inspire me in this day and age would be Richard Branson, i have read all his books and he is definitely someone that inspires me and I look up to.

• 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  To be honest, the course I took was online -i would work during the day and then study late into the night. I do remember taking calling in sick for work so that i could go and write my exams.

• 6) What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

  Just try - that's really it.
  New things are scary, especially opening up a piece of software which has 100 menus, 1000 buttons and 10 000 functions.
  I always tell my students, I will teach you what you need to know. You don't need to know how the engine in the aeroplane works, you just need to know it works.
  I cover all the fundamentals related to the industry my student is in
  My job is to make sure my students fall in love with CGI.

• 7) What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

  Hanging out with my 2 crazy daughters. Playing Soccer, Squash, Gym, Guitar, collecting Dragon Ball Z Figurines.

• 8) What makes you a Superprof in IT?

  My 13 years knowledge and experience in the real world - having tackled countless errors, issues and problems in the software allows me to better explain and solve the problem instead of hours of googling and reading through forums.
