About David

Having been in the very position a student has been in (twice), I like to think that I know a thing or two about what they are yet to go through and what they might be going through now.

Learning and studying should be fun and engaging - and in most cases it is, yet there are times when this is not the case, which is also perfectly fine and normal. Learning is also challenging, and part of my tutoring is to help students navigate their learning journey as smoothly as possible and equip them with the tools to deal with and overcome challenges that may impact their learning.

I have a combined 6 years of educational learning, which included many challenges and hardships - yet I came out the end of both with great achievements. It is this experience that best places me to help, guide and understand students - as I have been through it.

With respect to tutoring, I support and guide apprentices and students either in my capacity as an engineer in industry or as a volunteer at my local college.

About the class

My tutoring style is very flexible and will be unique to each student. The first session will be about getting to know the student, then understanding what their needs and goals are - whether short, medium or long term. I will also students time to get to know who I am, my journey and why I want to tutor.

The structure of my tutoring will be thoroughly structured in that it will mirror the students academic year from introduction week, initial lectures, assignment writing/hand in and exam/practical assessment preparation. However, it will be fluid in that it will be specific to each students depending on the subject/course. The ultimate goal is for the student to extract as much learning from the modules, and then convert that knowledge into a strong/desired grade.

The typical length of a session will be 1 hour. However as I understand the different needs and types of study students may require, I can discuss longer or shorter sessions to cater for this.

I am an Aerospace Engineer working in the defence industry, with 5 years experience. I also hold an Aerospace Engineering degree, as well as a Network Engineering degree. My tutoring experience involves voluntary work at a local college working with students and 1-2-1 mentoring of students during my day job.

My tutoring is primarily aimed at those going into or currently in University level study, however I can cater to all ages and levels to ensure students get the best from their studies
